Be A Better Person By Turning To Allah

Introduction

All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil in ourselves and from our bad deeds. The one whom Allah guides no one can misguide, and one whom He allows to fall astray, no one can guide. I testify that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner or associate; and I testify that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Turn to Allah for everything

If you have turned to Allah in desperation, then you will never feel easy except when you are in the state of worship. If a man is drowning in the ocean, he turns to Allah and starts swimming. Similarly, if a person is drowning in his worldly affairs, he turns to Allah and his heart opens.

Truly, I have noticed that the people who are most open-hearted and big-hearted are those who turn to Allah for everything. They don't turn to any other source for anything or anyone, but they only turn towards Allah.

The people who are reluctant to seek the help of others, and show pride by saying "I am self-sufficient" or "I don't need anyone" – these are not from us. We do not believe in this type of behaviour and we do not promote this kind of mindset.

When we say that we can only depend on Allah, it does not mean that we reject all other forms of help. But if someone has sought a certain type of help and is still facing hardships, then there is no shame in seeking another form of help as well. There is no disgrace in asking others for help. If you feel ashamed to ask others for help, then you forget that you are also dependent on others

Learn the best way to worship Him

The best way to worship Allah is by doing righteous deeds and avoiding the cursed acts, not leaving any act without invoking Allah's name upon it with the hope that it will be the deed that saves us from the torment of Allah on the Day of Judgment.

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: "Whoever plays out a decent deed, let him conjure Allah's name upon it; and whoever plays out a malevolent deed, let him revile himself and atone to Allah". (Muslim)

The Prophet (SAW) additionally said: "Whoever carries out something worth being thankful for, let him express gratitude toward Allah for its integrity; and whoever carries out a malevolent thing, let him fault nobody yet himself". (At-Tirmidhi)

As Muslims we know that our deeds are directly linked to our destiny. How could it be otherwise? The Prophet (SAW) told us that Allah created us for a purpose – to worship Him alone. When we do what He wants us to do, we are fulfilling our purpose and living life as we were meant to live. And when we don't do what He wants from us, we are going against His plan for us and being out of sync with His will for our lives.

Dedicate some time daily to remember Allah

Have a regular time each day to remember Allah, so that you will not forget Him. When you think of how much you depend on Allah, you will feel humbled and grateful to Him.

When we are awake at night we should talk to Allah (dhikr). This is one of the best times to do so because there is no one around to distract us or make us feel uncomfortable. We can say whatever we wish in our hearts. If we cannot pray at night, then we should talk to Allah during the day before the sun rises...

Dhikr has many benefits: it helps us remember Allah, and it also keeps us from doing things that are harmless (forbidden) such as lying, cheating, and backbiting. It is also a means by which we draw closer to Allah.

The Prophet (harmony and endowments of Allah arrive) said: "Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the adherent than great habits." [Muslim].

By remembering Allah and doing dhikr often, our hearts will become filled with love for Him, and wherever we are, He will be with us in our hearts...

When you feel sad or downhearted, think of how much you have been given;

Look for His pardoning and you will track down His kindness

The Prophet (harmony arrives) said: "The solid devotee is better and more adored to Allah than the powerless adherent, while it is great in both. Guard against that for which you are admonished." (Muslim)

It is through the mercy and forgiveness of Allah that we are able to turn away from our sins and mistakes. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "It is only the generous in giving that receives more. Whoever is given his provision by Allah, He will give him sustenance from somewhere else as well."

At first glance, this hadith seems to contradict what we have just said about seeking Allah's forgiveness first. But if we look closely at the wordings, we see that it is not as much a contradiction as it may first seem:

The Prophet did not say that seeking Allah's forgiveness is bad. Rather, he said that it was more difficult - and more rewarding. In fact, leaving sin without asking for forgiveness might be a sign of conceit and arrogance on our part, and leave us with an empty feeling inside.

-"Do not turn away from My Remembrance after Me" (20:24), so if we seek His forgiveness all the time, He will always forgive us!

Conclusion

Turn to Allah, He will provide for you, He will keep His promise with you, and make your heart firm. He only guides those who are God-fearing and those who believe in His Signs. Be a person of God-fearing and bring yourself closer to Allah every day. Ask Him to forgive you and guide you through the straight path. Make your burdens light by seeking refuge in Allah, take refuge in Him alone because if it was not for Him, then you would not have been able to find any peace or forgiveness from anyone.
